About
Anna Rogelio Joaquin is an artist, organizer, and teacher. She holds a B.A. in Theatre and a minor in Mathematics from Loyola University Chicago, where she was primarily active as a performer, dramaturg, choreographer, and music director. In 2021, she graduated with an M.A. in Performance as Public Practice at the University of Texas at Austin, where her research interrogated relationships between theatre, organizing, and social change. Joaquin continues to organize with Gathering Ground Theatre in Austin, TX remotely while pursuing an M.A. in English Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Having previously mentored and taught youth through GEAR UP, Upward Bound, The Cherubs at Northwestern University, and Youth & Opportunity United, Joaquin is eager to return to her home state to cultivate creative, democratic pedagogies with UIC’s M.A. in English Education community. Upon graduation, she intends to teach high school English in Chicago Public Schools and organize with the Chicago Teachers Union.
