In memorium

Dr. Richard H. Ward, Associate Vice President for Special Programs and Sponsored Research at the University of New Haven, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 17th. Dr. Ward served as Associate Chancellor for Special Programs and Vice Chancellor for Administration at the University of Illinois, Chicago from 1983-1999.  During this time he also held a faculty position in the Department of Criminology, Law and Justice Faculty and set up the Office of International Criminal Justice (OICJ). He left UIC in 1999 to serve as Dean of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University and went on to serve as Associate Vice President for Research and Special Programs at SHSU from 2006-2008. Since 2008 he has been at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.

There will also be an out-of-state memorial service held in Chicago in early March. The date, time, and location of that service will be announced in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Richard and Michelle Ward Endowed Scholarship at the University of New Haven.
