About
James Broadnax is a licensed clinical therapist (LCPC) and doctoral student in Criminology, Law, and Justice whose work examines the intersections of trauma, systemic inequality, and the carceral state. He serves as Clinical Supervisor in the Cook County Mental Health Court, where he oversees the assessment and treatment of justice-involved individuals, guiding interventions that support rehabilitation, healing, and successful community reintegration. He is also co-founder of Interlude Healing Collective, a therapy practice grounded in culturally responsive and liberatory care, providing clinical services that center the lived experiences of marginalized communities. His research examines how complex trauma shapes the trajectories of justice-involved individuals, with a focus on dismantling barriers to rehabilitation and developing trauma-informed, equity-driven interventions to reduce recidivism, particularly among Black youth and adults navigating reentry.
