About

Criminal Lawyer specialized in Brazilian Criminal Procedure and Constitutional Law, having received her Bachelor in Law from the State University of Londrina and her Brazilian Lawyers Organization credentials in 2017. Before coming to UIC, Cecilia interned with the Public Prosecutions Office, Specialized in Crimes Against Life at Londrina, Paraná, where she had the opportunity to work in cases of homicide, femicide, legal abortions, and eventually sexual assault. In 2020, amid the pandemic, Cecilia started acting as a criminal lawyer through the association of the Brazilian Lawyer Organization and the Justice Court of Paraná, providing legal assistance to low-income individuals in drug-related, patrimonial, homicide, physical assault, and gender violence crimes, which allowed her to witness both sides of the Brazilian legal system. In an attempt to understand the different sides of crime and criminality beyond the law, Cecilia restarted her academic career at UIC in July of 2022, where she found a passion for teaching and received her Master's degree in Criminology, Law, and Justice, in May of 2024. Currently, as a P.hD. Student Cecilia's research interests surround victims' experiences and victimization.
