About

As an historian with a focus on Africa, his research explores the realms of robbery and intentional homicide in colonial Nigeria. He aims to elucidate how colonialism fostered novel forms of criminality while reshaping traditional ones. Through a nuanced examination, he intends to delve into the impact of Colonial Penality on the emergence of new criminal phenomena. This inquiry will encompass assessments that underscore conflicts between colonial and customary systems of justice, as well as the dichotomy between rural and urban criminality in colonial Nigeria.

Beyond his interest in criminality, Lukman is also a cultural historian with a passion for kingship institutions. His curiosity lies in understanding why these institutions persist in the face of modernity, despite the influences of democracy. This inquiry promises to shed light on the enduring nature of kingship in 21st-century Africa.

His academic background includes a B.A (Ed) in History from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and an MA in African History from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
