About

As an historian with a focus on Africa, my research explores the realms of robbery and intentional homicide in colonial Nigeria. I aim to elucidate how colonialism fostered novel forms of criminality while reshaping traditional ones. Through a nuanced examination, I intend to delve into the impact of Colonial Penality on the emergence of new criminal phenomena. This inquiry will encompass assessments that underscore conflicts between colonial and customary systems of justice, as well as the dichotomy between rural and urban criminality in colonial Nigeria.

Beyond my interest in criminality, I am also a cultural historian with a passion for kingship institutions. My curiosity lies in understanding why these institutions persist in the face of modernity, despite the influences of democracy. This inquiry promises to shed light on the enduring nature of kingship in 21st century Africa.

My academic background, which includes a B.A (Ed) in History from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and an MA in African History from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, has equipped me with the necessary foundation to pursue these research interests.
