About
Teuta Peja is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Criminology, Law and Justice. Her research interests focus on violence against women, gender-based violence prevention and intervention, and domestic violence in immigrant communities. She is especially interested in the criminalization of domestic violence; her work explores how institutional responses shape survivors’ experiences when seeking support. Teuta holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Prishtina and an MA in Women’s Studies and Gender Studies from Loyola University at Chicago. Her MA thesis explored the intersection of domestic violence and immigration.
Through her work, she aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of how support systems can more effectively respond to survivors' needs.
